Relevant Studio Experience

Design - Design courses through the last two years have provided a strong understanding of production and fabrication techniques, graphic design, design history, model making, and conceptualizing both by hand and digitally. Generated a deep interest in design, creative problem solving, and sustainability.

Chair Studio - Advanced studio consisting of designing and constructing 2 chairs, a welded stool and an ottoman. Overlapping projects, time management and construction skills emphasized.

Designing Systems for a Bigger Scale - Special topic retail and exhibit design studio with an emphasis on large scale modular construction and graphics.

Designing With Light - Advanced studio consisting of lighting projects from candle holders to wiring, to lamps, culminating in a final 5 piece lighting collection. Encouraged creativity in lighting opportunities and connecting a narrative element (children’s book) with a 3-D product line.

 

Biophilic Tiny House - Intensive studio consisting of designing a 150 sq. ft. house and constructing a full scale model in cardboard. Emphasis was placed on making an environmentally friendly house with features that connect to the natural world.


Professional Experience

Live-in Au Pair - Oakland, CA -  September-December 2015 - Responsibilities for two young girls included scheduling and transportation, cooking and cleaning.

The Loading Dock Restaurant - Belmont, MA - January-June 2016 - Waitress and Barista. Working long hours in a fast paced environment contributed to skills in memorization and organization.

Youth Environmental Entrepreneurship Program - Cambridge, MA - May 2018-August 2018 - Aided in designing curriculum and implementing an entrepreneurship program for high school students in Cambridge. Learned about, designed landscapes with and sold native plants to residents as well as working with community members and city council on local environmental issues.

Carr Haus Cafe - Providence, RI - January 2018- March 2020 - Shift manager, cashier, barista and food preparer. Managing many orders at once and working in a group.

Teaching Assistant at the Rhode Island School of Design - Providence, RI - February 2019-May 2019 - Teaching assistant for a freshman spatial dynamics class. Duties included helping facilitate and plan classes, communicating with students about work and providing additional support for the professor.

Project Intern at Main Street Design - Cambridge, MA - July 2020-August 2020 - Designed and created a 3-Dimensional model of a wooden fin wall that was constructed for use in a commercial cafeteria.

Draftsman at SmartArchitecture - Cambridge, MA - September 2020-March 2022 - Used ArchiCAD and Rhino to draft plans & elevations, and construct models of many residences in the greater Boston area and beyond. Created and revised drawing sets for design, estimating, permit, & construction. Worked with and observed principal and project architects as they communicated with city officials and designed residences to adhere to building codes and satisfy the needs of their clients.

Project Designer at SmartArchitecture - Cambridge, MA - March 2022-Present - Working directly with clients, construction and design professionals including contractors and structural engineers, and the firm’s principal architect to design and oversee construction of residences in New England. Design work includes framing and plan design, exterior finishes and changes, interiors, from furniture to finishes, and landscape design. Particular sensitivity payed to historical architectural details and design that complements and preserves historical materials as much as possible.
